LAST UPDATED: 1st February 2021

So it’s been a difficult time for so many over the last year. So many people have suffered as a result of Covid 19, many people have lost friends, family and loved ones. Many have found the restrictions due to lockdown difficult and its divided communities and life won’t be the same coming out of it.

For us it’s been a time to reconnect as a family, spending time getting back to basics and working hard around the site to get it to where we always wanted it to be…we are almost there with one week to go.

We have been fairly quiet on social media so we thought it would be a good time to give an update as to where we’re at in terms of how things will be when we re-open.

Without any detailed advice as to how things should run, campsites have been left to figure out how their individual and different setups have to run. We have been talking to friends who also run a campsite and investing in the business to make sure our guests and our family can be safe going forward. So we have made a few physical changes and also will be asking guests to change things up a bit in order to make sure we are all safe.

In terms of the facilities, in 2020 we carried out the following…

– Where possible we have taken the decision to replace all lights with PIR automatic lights, doing away with switches.

– In the newly built indoor kitchen we have also installed infrared pre-set hot water taps

-freezers for ice block and charge points in the kitchen

-In most areas, there are infrared anti-bacterial soap dispensers

-There are also infrared Sanitiser dispensers upon exit of the toilets and kitchen

-It’s not always possible to keep these topped up 100% of the time, so if you find one is empty please tell a member of the Beare’s Den Team and we’ll fill them asap.

-upon leaving the communal area (toilets, showers and kitchen) we have installed an outside, knee operated hand basin for guests to wash their hands before returning to their pitches.

-As part of the ongoing work we have built porches on every door meaning the doors can stay open in bad weather reducing the need to touch handles every time. (I was tempted to post pictures, but maybe think it will be a nice surprise for campers to see what it now looks like)

– We are putting in an arrivals board which has a site map on it and a pitch list with campers names for arrival. This will be lit at night. Also please take note of the update board by the knee operated sink

-We have built a sluice area for guests to empty their portable toilets should they wish to bring them (we ask you don’t use harsh chemicals in these as it may damage our septic tank)

In terms of how things will work, we have decided on the following…

– One family/pitch in any of the facilities at a time

-The kitchen and showers will be shut at 9 pm and re-opened at 6:30 am

-Toilets will remain open around the clock

-We are encouraging campers to bring their own toilet roll and not leave it in the toilets

-We will be hiring fire pits but ask guests to bring their own grills

-We will have logs for sale but would prefer guests to buy their own whilst out and about. These can be purchased from the garage down the road, The Range and also B&M. Both of these are 15 minutes down the road. We ask this to reduce contact for Adam.

-Wash your mitts, often and thoroughly and try to resist hugging me! haha!

-Yurt guests are being encouraged to bring their own bedding where possible, this includes duvets, pillows and all sheets (if this is really not possible, please get in touch! )

I think that’s it?? We look forward to having campers back enjoying our home and its amazing coves and coastline. This is a different way of doing things for us all and we ask that you don’t visit our house but ring me if you need anything at all.

I will be around as usual and always up for a 1-2 metre chat, I’ll still be making sure everyone is good and enjoying their stay.

We’ve got this if we work together and remember this is new for us all!

Finally, let’s ask the universe for a warm and windless summer 2021!
